Tragedy denied.

By Derelict Dream

I do not hear your cries of agony and pain,
I do not listen when you babble in the rain,
I ignore you when you have gone insane,
Because forever, for eternity, all remains the same.

When you walk out of your domicile at night,
You submit all you are to the terror and the fright,
You have given up all safety and your right,
To have comfort, to not suffer, to have all you own in sight.

As you walk down the cold and damp dark road,
Your own sorrow and pain become a goad,
And all that was well now ill begins to bode,
For your future, for forever, your gun you cannot load.

In instants of mediocrity we all have our own pain,
We wallow in the footsteps of our fathers, us inane,
And when we can't bare anymore and long we have lain,
We cry out, we scream, on the night our voice is a stain.

You can't kill her as you wanted and as you planned,
Your heart darkened now lightens and tries to make a stand,
Your spirit and your soul have now begun to remand,
Her beauty, her hair, her small and creamy hand.

Your eyes begin to tear and you begin to weep,
You wish that this was just a dream while you remain asleep,
And when you wake your promise again you will keep,
But you know it, you feel it, your love for her is deep.

You cast off your weapon and soon you lose control,
You walk to her stoop and begin to patrol,
You ponder your new found weakness and slowly you cajole,
To continue, to finish, you press your heart and soul.

Finally you knock and she soon does appear,
She asks you why you came and why this garb you wear,
You tell her all the truth now gone all of your fear,
And she considers, she thinks, then her eyes do clear.

Slowly and with effort, her hands grasp your own,
Without thought or care or fear you lightly loose a moan,
A smile begins to touch your face, a tear falls like a stone,
And she joins you, you become one, no longer all alone.

And thus ends your maddening cries and sorrow filled despair,
Now I no longer have to ignore your pitiful affair,
And clean is the night once more, cleansed is the air,
But not forever, not for long, another soon will try to err.
