Men: they planted seeds inside our mothers
Whether they ever became true fathers
We sprouted, then died the day we full-bloomed
We tore apart her blossom, as did he
Kissing our way out—No tenderness
No thank you
And where we came from, we pretend we never knew
The womb was once our best shelter
Before we ever knew
The women who once kept us
Would be the ones who turned us blue
