Worth the Wait
By peril_notion
Was it worth the wait? Driven crazily home with thoughts of
Mistaken chances to dissuade a penitent heart full of lies
I can't tick if you never let me breathe you in
It's not a reckless or drunken push that's crawling in to stop it
But a pulling of conscience fibers crisscrossed with weakness
Compounded by guilt and frustration and band-aids over tiny
Flesh wounds that pale in comparison to what you're pulling me into
Disgusted and tiresome, the idiot logic laughed at by closest friends
Clutching the closest match to the most important jigsaw piece
Pressed harder and harder in until it fitfully crumbles into place
You can't talk a hallow lady into believing in herself again
Nor can one deal in lead at the most crucial part of the game
So put it down or pick it up to withstand the ridicule so witlessly
Inflicted on the most efficient ways on these low soapboxes so paranoid
Of getting caught that you must spin the stickiest web to clamber out of
Might as well just lie in it and breathe you in some more, pull the blinds
And enjoy the sunset without remembering what makes it worth the wait
