Drumbeats

By emeraldgrace

how is it that music stirs the soul
with its rythmic beats
one after another
so that we absently find ourselves
tapping our foot to the tune
the strumming of strings
distracting our minds
bringing up past memories
fond wishes
people we had forgotten
the darkest song can bring out
hope long hidden
and the sunniest one, tears
music envelopes us like a sheer
blanket
a second skin
a new thought
reminding us not all is books and business
but ferociuos drumbeats
passionate strumming
a channel to society
fueled
by the fire in our hearts
