Red woods

By Gabriel

As the Sun flanks the last fleeting bits of
Night and claims it for the light of day; a
Man so frail! with bloodied shade cowers

Beneath the fierce Red woods' defiance
Ably snaring darting beams of daylight
They loom, beyond man's eyesight, they loom

The man falls beneath the chimera,
Beneath the sap and wood its own master,
Murm'ring final sighs of long passed mem'ries

"O the pain! the sorrows and regrets!
Banished not by time nor other nat'ral
Healers; I die from pestilence!

"O I beg thee! my lord, Jehovah
Allow me to forsake my own anguish
Show me the ease of these valiant Red woods

"O I beg thee! merciful Gabriel
Let this sap flow through my veins and become
Me, so I'll not wince at the sight of day."
