A poem to mike

By DarkPaladine

On the day that you were born the world
stood still, and then that tiny little boy
cried out hello folks,I'm here!
In my arms I held you and my heart began
to pound, for here was my newborn son,in him
I would be proud.
I have watched you grow from day to day and
my love for you grew too,and soon I knew
together we would play as father and son
should do.
I have watched you as you went to school,
and saw you get along with other kids that
were your age and soon I felt I no longer
belonged.
For you were growing up so fast, that at
times I felt I was only in your past and
I wondered where I went wrong.
And then you hit your teenage years, and
worried if what you did was right or wrong.
But still to your old dad you came to hear
his wisdom song.
And now you are a man today who knows what
is right and wrong.I have not had much chance
these days to tell you my love for you is
still strong.
For you my son,I have found that in you I
am very proud, and I still get a thrill from
you when I hear you say I hope you will stick
around. My biggest thrill came the other day
when you became a father. And you called to
tell me the news that I am now a grand father.
I love you Mike my son
