Insomniac

By physicalgraffiti

Couldn't get to sleep last night.
Caught myself thinking of you.

So now i'm strung out on cigarettes and coffee.
a feeling that isn't new.
I brushed my teeth until they bled,
and washed my body until it shed.
trying to erase,
erase,
the thoughts of you.
i watched TV until my mind erased,
i read encyclopedias until my thoughts were laced
with anything but you,
with anything but you.
i read the song you wrote for her.
and soon jealousy forced my body to stir.
I run and walk and strut away,
still wishing and hoping to this day,
that it was me you were writing for...
never her...never more.

Couldn't get to sleep last night.
Caught myself thinking of you.
