To Fel

By Guttercat

Seeking a space of solitude,
I wander these silent streets,
To see a wake for one who hath passed,
Chrysanthemums line his sleep.
A pregnant stray accosts me then,
I feed her flesh not mine,
& stroke her silken ginger pelt,
A lover’s breathe sublime.
I break away from this reverie,
To see the sky above,
Of a velvet cloth devoid of stars,
& I, devoid of love.
Hide thy face amongst the stars,
To dream of what’s to be.
I hide my face amongst dry sand,
& dream of what is me.

There lies a beauty in serenity,
But mine resides in melancholy.

this is great! the use of the felineform parallel is excellent; lovely closing too - softly shadowed... beautiful. :)
