Abandoned

By Death

The loss will hurt less with time,
This is what they tell him.
But he knows better,
The loss he suffered will hurt for eternity.

Never will he get the chance to ask,
"What's wrong dear"
For she abandoned him,
And left him with this never-ending pain.

At night he still holds onto hope,
Praying to those above to reunite them.
Praying that their separation will be short.
Praying he can one day say goodbye.

On the surface he seems to hate her,
Wishing he knew why she left him.
But in his heart, he already knows,
It was never meant to be.

In the dark, fear gripped his heart.
The fear of abandonment seemed all-powerful.
He hoped for resolution,
But knew it would never come.

And as the darkness closes in,
He remembers that last day.
He waived goodbye for the last time,
And said he’d be back later.

But three days later,
He stood wondering why.
And as the priest closed the coffin,
Black clouds filled the sky.

Yeah people say that loss goes away with time but they do lie. It never really goes away. A very powerful poem that made my heart ache with remberance. Thank you.
