“The Resistance”

By Lexicon

I am the one you did not know about.
My name is Talim.
I am the 1st and only child of who you call Dracula.
It is very peculiar that I am nearly 900 years old and the world has no knowledge of my existence.
I am here to set things straight as they say.

First and foremost, vampires are indeed real.
We have existed since the beginning of time.
We have sailed the waters of this earth when you humans were merely single-celled organisms wallowing in the
primordial ooze of evolution.
We were present to feast on the overgrown lizards.
We were always here.
We watched you evolve from the ape over time and seemingly devolve in
the present.
We have been hunted and persecuted by your priests and archangels.
We have done nothing to deserve this.
Humans slaughter animals and enslave them, kill them
for sport, all we do is eat, we eat to stay alive.
You call us evil and confuse us with being “satanic”, derived from a deity of which we experienced you create.
We are not evil or demonic; we are simply the top of the food chain.

Secondly, forget what you have seen and read in your frivolous movies and books, we are not cursed to wear
the cloak of darkness eternally; we enjoy gazing at the sun just as much as the moon.
However, I digress; my father is a notorious “evil doer”, “child of Satan”, “prince of darkness”, not because he is an abomination, not because
he is on the right hand of the devil.
He is notorious because he refuses to idlely stand by and watch his people be studied like mice and enslaved.
My father is the leader of the resistance.
He has kept me safe all this time for fear that I would be used as leverage in this deadly game,
but I shall not continue to be silenced.
We shall not continue to be silenced.
The human government shall no longer steal into our havens like thieves in the night and capture our children, our
mothers, our fathers, our brothers and sisters.
We will no longer be hunted for sport like so many land beasts.
We will not be carved into and dissected and degraded for humanities stupidity and for their fear of
what they do not understand.

My father was beheaded, a wooden stake driven through his heart.
With him died my last ebb of compassion and hope for my kind and the human race to have a symbiotic existence.
I am now the leader of the resistance.
I carry on the legacy, the cause, and I will not be done away with so easily.
So I say this to the human world and all that these words may reach, the resistance swarms your way and we will not subdued.
If it is war that you want, it is war you shall get.
