A Darker Side of Myself

There is a side of me
that few will ever see.
For in me lives a shadow,
which will occasionally bellow.

There is a darker side to us all
that has caused many a downfall.
Many people try to hide this side of who they are,
but this denial of our true self will not get us far.

Why should we hide this dark sea?
For acceptance will allow us to truly be.
Why should we conform to what is acceptable?
For certain things in life are unavoidable.

None of us will forever stand tall,
for Death will, eventually, take us all.
