Nothing as it Seems

By Flayed_Soul

The face doesn't always mirror what's inside
This is the case with me I must confide.
The anger is in my eyes to show I'm strong
But if that's what you see, then you're wrong.
Because true strength is a subtlety
That lies hidden until it must be
Used at an appropriate time;
To show it always is a crime.
I'm guilty, I must confess
That I can't use it any less
Than every moment of every day;
While it wastes my life away.
I just want to let you know
There's so much in me that doesn't show
There are worlds of ideas and dreams to be found
And there is care, generosity, and love abound.
So please see that this face is not who I want to be
And know that there is no strength left in me.
I plead for help because I no longer want to hide
That nothing is as it seems when hanging on to pride.
