Soldier

The enemy rolls in and he steps back
A soldier caught off guard, not ready for the attack
The queen's heart hurts as he starts to pull away
She was thinking he'd be gone by the end of the day

This moment of doubt filled her with painful dread
So she spoke from the heart and meant what she said
I loved you yesterday. I'll love you next week. I'll love you every year.
And the choice to go or stay is yours, but I'll be right here
A queen is weak without her soldier, but the burden of the crown is hers bare alone
She must fight and battle, to earn her throne

But as the queen began to fall apart, crying lonely tears
The soldier reached over and whispered, "I'm right here
Let's stand up together and fight for this land
I have you in my arms, we will fight hand in hand "

So with words as their weapons and hope as their shield
They fought and won the war, their love no longer concealed
They took their thrones, side by side
A soldier to a King with a Queen as his bride
