The Forest and the Ocean

By Soulfire

I am the forest and you are the ocean
I can see you from a distance and fell in love with your motion
Strong winds blow and your sweet scent flows through me
How do I untangle all these roots so I can be with the sea?
During the day, the sun shines on your eyes so blue
At night the stars reflect upon the vastness that is you
Drawing me in, hypnotizing my leaves
Come to me, come to me, come to me sea
A fierce storm draws near, a tsunami off the coast
Everyone flees in fear, but it’s the moment I want most
The moment your arms can stretch across the shore
I’ve dreamed of this meeting many times before
The time arrives and you crash, just beyond the beach
I stretch out my branches but I just can’t reach
You slowly recede back out of my grasp and my limbs break
How many more storms can this forest take?
The thunder roars and it begins to rain
Because even the heavens can feel my pain.
