Dark Reflections

~ Dark Reflections ~

Mirror of the monster deep
Eyes of Eden put to asleep
Wasted life, the witness to the mystery of what became
Made to drink the venom of the cobra from the well of pain
Made to be the one who was to blame
Her shameless heart the darkened bloody cave from which I came

To see the day deprived of light
To learn the wrong defined as right
To live the lies she welcomed in
A swarm of flies in human skin

To speak in whispers never to be heard
To face a scene of horror which would never be reversed
Where faith and peace entwined in needs divine were born again
But instantly the child was dead
Stabbed in the heart by the author’s pen
As the warmth drained out of my mother’s hand
Her frozen eyes of hate embraced the fragments of my soul

As torrid raging forces of deceit and lust in vicious claws
Unchained in me the story of her madness echoed on and on,

“In heaven’s arms this phantom you would hold
If once again the embers of your love would lift this cold
But how can I wish for the sun to return
When all that I am is the blood on your hand
When all that I’ve been is the death of your dreams
And all that I’ve seen is the depth of your sin
Taking me back to the end
Taking me there to begin
Over and over and over and over
Over and under, again and again…”
