All That is Left

By Meadowhawk

All that is left

just shattered dreams
that softly fall
cold and dead
with a final whisper
to the floor
of a dark and lonely room

Where old trembling hands
with nothing left to hold
and an injured heart
with nothing left to give
slowly dance
to a sad quiet chorus
of why

All that is left

the broken remnants
of hope
now just a lightless
meaningless word
drowned by hollow feelings
in a dark and frigid
sea of sadness

Where even
once fond memories
sink and fade to black
callously swallowed
by the silent depths
of a longing grief

until all that is left

are tears
