Cause of Death

By Paradoxology

~ Cause of Death ~

I spent my life
In a castle filled with shadows
I looked outside
To the beauty of the day
I heard them say
To believe and not ask questions
So I trusted them to safely lead the way

I looked above
At a sky of perfect rainbows
I wondered why
They remained so far away
Through years of pain
Shining down on their deceptions
’Til the prisms burst in pieces burning gray

But still I walked
For the fantasies they fashioned
I had been taught
To believe in what I feel
Then I got lost
And I found myself abandoned
Where the flowers never fade in hearts of steel

I stepped inside
In the solace of my sorrows
I closed my eyes
And I never went back home
I left behind
All the lies and the illusions
As I left myself behind and died alone
