Flash of Mercy

By Paradoxology

~ Flash of Mercy ~

A stream of blood flows down the screen
In front of you
In front of me
Of one unknown, of one unseen
As one unloved
As one unclean
A vision blind, a hidden dream
Was meant to die
Was meant to be
My final breath on blood-soaked keys
With splattered brains unnoticed there
Where now I lay in dreamless sleep
I pray the Lord to care

The rifle falls unto your feet
In front of you
In back of me
In crimson’s flood the dark unleashed
From demons dead
My soul released
From all the words conceived in sin
Of you and I
Of now and then
The bullet through your hand was sent
To clear my head of all this pain
The blood and brains and what remains
Of all that was and might have been

Until you carried me away
From here to there
From now to then
And chose the ground to be my grave
Without a stone
And burned this page
The final act, the final scene
Of one recalled
Of one redeemed
By all the blood that hides the screen
And all the brains, in scarlet grace
That once contained the memories
Of all that’s now erased
