Letter to our unborn
By A poet of madness
Dear child
You are not a mistake. We never planned for you, because we didn't know
you were possible, but we are so grateful to have you. We have had kids
before you, but life is complicated and we don't get to see your brothers
and sister, and I hope you get a chance to meet them someday. In the meantime,
we plan to give you as much love and time that we can, and give you the
best life we can afford. We don't know if you're a boy or girl yet, and
just in case, I at least plan on writing down both names we have chosen
for you. This is not the world we wanted for you to grow up in. There
are very hard times ahead, but we hope they get better before you have
to worry about that. My mom and dad passed over about three years ago,
and I miss their presence and guidance a lot in times like this. They
would have loved to meet you and your mother. She is a magnificent person,
although quite strange, I think you'll like her almost as much as I do.
We plan to get married next month, which we planned on before we knew
about you, we just happen to be doing it a few months sooner because of
you. We have such huge hopes and dreams for you. Nothing personal, just
for you to be good at whatever it is you enjoy and to be happy doing it.
Remember, money comes and goes in life, but people are priceless. Even
people you really don't like are or were precious to someone, and if you're
ever tempted to hurt them, remember that. I plan on teaching you everything
I know about martial arts, in case you ever need to defend yourself, and
so you know how to protect the people you care about some day.
With all the love in the world
Your other parent

Great job. The world needs parents that will take out the time to write things like this.

I can relate to the nature of this letter. I felt the same anxieties when my children were born, and it never really goes away for a parent. Very heartfelt and touching, dear. Reb:).
