Reminiscing
By SilenttPerception
In the world of darkness he now resides in,
The tip of his cigarette is his only source of light.
He drew back hot smoke into his lungs,
Just as he drew back his strength to resist her memory,
Allowing her to flood his every thought.
He held in the smoke a while,
Reminiscing as it burned his inner self,
Willingly losing himself in his past with no plans to return.
He'd ignore the inevitable even if it meant walking deeper into the darkness.
Just before he'd lose himself completely,
He'd exhale with the hope that he'd be able to let her go just as he did
the smoke.
He however, was left only in disappointment and yet another failed attempt.
Until tomorrow my old friend.

Lots of soul, and terribly relatable. Thank you for this.
