Returning the favor
By Antaya
Words will rule the nations,
Words will cast temptations.
Thoughts provoke rebellions,
Thoughts release inner hellions.
These are mine.
Though I think I might break,
I stay strong for destruction's sake.
My mind was never weak,
But in this body, havoc does wreak.
I know all humans feel,
But not all realize what emotions steal.
Happiness lasts for a short while,
But so too, do anger and guile.
I cannot string together the words for you,
But I guess I can try my best to.
I press a cigarette to my lips,
And the scent of cancer sticks to my fingertips,
A death stick, some would say,
But what the Hell? We all die anyway.
And I guess what I'm trying to imply,
Is that life is short, so why be afraid to die?
We drop to our knees and scream to the sky,
But what God would answer, before we even try?
We're a graceless race,
Staring down a clock's face,
Nothing Good is ever GOOD enough,
We go on like this life is rough.
We wage wars over life itself,
We put mortal men on the highest shelf.
And then go on screaming about the divine,
And how they've given us some sign?
How many bodies must we break?
Before we begin to feel the ache,
Of nations fallen like before,
Nations cast upon death's door.
What sets us aside from the rest?
Why have we stood time's test?
Oh, Love. This isn't winning,
This is just the beginning.
So take all the spoils,
And pretend you live among the royals,
Because time will tell,
Where you go, from this earthly Hell.
As for me?
Emotions are easy.
I don't have any,
So my life? It's plenty.
