Where were you?
By darkangel
Where were you when I was curled up alone, trying to cry some sense into
these demons?
Where were you when these chocolate colored walls became my most important
conversations?
Where were you when I realized the dreams I had let go of, were the ones
that included you?
Where were you when I felf the dreams I'd left in the cold, were the ones
I was picking up & claiming once again?
Where were you when????
You're here now, after I decided that you shouldn't be, and this has turned
into a hellish nightmare with no end.
I was all alone during my battles.
The ugliest demons in me made you run, and I learned a lot from that.
But mostly, I learned that I don't need you.
I don't need you to help me fight one damn thing!!!

True companions are hard to come by these days, I enjoyed the poem as a whole, talking about betrayal and loyalty. You made me think, it's easy to point the finger and shuffle the blame on to someone else but it takes bravery to own up to ones mistakes. Very good.

"Where were you?" Cowardly hiding in the shadows watching you fight those battles alone. As would be my reply anyways. I'm glad you learned your strength, nice expression.

I like the strength within your voice here and the derogatory questioning makes it dig even deeper. Nicely inked!
