Passionately Empty

By Jennanselmo

I feel the same but different, the emotion within me has changed
My composition has mutated and brought me to my present age
In the distance I see the bridges burning that once were so strong
You say the times are changing and it’s time to sing a new song

What notes can embody the pain that has been bled here
What melody can erase all of our darkest fears?
When will the day come when I see judgment made?
When will the hour pass and our lives begin to fade?

I count only on stars; they are the only ones that seem to stay.
I rely on no one; I’ve learned it is better this way.
For when my time comes I know I will leave this place
And when that moment arises I will wipe the tears from my face

What notes can embody the pain that has been bled here?
What melody can erase all of our darkest fears?
When will the day come when I see judgment made?
When will the hour pass and our lives begin to fade?

I feel everything so deeply; all of it cuts me to the core
No one really understands why some things affect me more
So I’ve made it point to hold it in as much as I can
I refuse to give anyone the opportunity to understand

What notes can embody the pain that has been bled here?
What melody can erase all of our darkest fears?
When will the day come when I see judgment made?
When will the hour pass and our lives begin to fade?

It has become a challenge to express my words with conviction
As each syllable falls I analyze whether or not its fiction
To the point where I assume all my thoughts are lies
And now I know that anything beautiful always dies.

This was an abyss that sucked me completely down in your misery...beautiful in its hopelessness...this well done...

I love your poetry, its very dark. this one has a great flow to it and the melancholy is never ending. to stop the tears truly brings comfort but finally giving in to the pain. a true surrender. is the ultimate bliss because that's when the healing begins. awesome poem!
