The Ancient Battle

By gearhead

Once upon a time in a desolate land, there where evil dragons fighting the man

They seemed to be winning, but they hadn't a clue

Of the force that await them, on the journey through

For the men where protected,  by a power so strong

That the dragons hadn't a chance of lasting to long

The statues they seen, on the towers so high

Seemed to be moving, and coming alive

                          These ancient creatures, partially stone

Where sworn to protect, the men and there homes

The men called the gargoyles, There salvation has come

As the night draws on, the dragons appear

As the men all run for there spears, the gargoyles take flight

Soaring thought the air, with all there might

A fierce battle is about to commence, as the winds change a massacre begins

The gargoyles and dragons collide, as the men do all they can to stay alive

Blood begins to rain from the sky, as casualty add up from both sides

The dragons are falling, as the buildings burn

They look for a way out, but theres no where to turn

The gargoyles have them out numbered, as the battle comes to an end

The few left standing, watch the dragons give in

The sky now on fire, body's smolder throughout town

The blood soaked earth, now a hallow ground

As the gargoyles return, from where they where found..........
