Indestructible Enemies

By SilentHeart

Shadows dance across the walls as my tears silently flow.........
The moon's gentle arms slowly wrap tighter around my chest and throat,
and I gasp for the bitter air that is keeping me alive.
I can hear my bones breaking and my lunges collapsing.......
and she smiles.
The quiet laughter of a soft breeze fills the room until I'm drowning in his mockery.
I reach into the darkness, grasping for warmth and safety,
pleading for someone to rescue me........
The air kisses my face and slices my skin.
I can feel my soul fading.....fading.......no hope......
Finally, the moon loosens her grip and claws at my heart on her way out.
The darkness whispers his threats before exiting.

I let out a sob as I watch the stronger enemy begin to rise.
The sun flashes his sharpened weapons and glides toward me.
And I know it is over.
I no longer care to keep fighting.
So I lay down in the crimson mess the moon and night left behind........
And I close my eyes.....
One final tear.......
One last breath......
A quiet goodbye........
and the fight
is finally
over....
