Cowboy Junkie

By worldunknown31

ARE YOU AS SICK AS I
DO YOU NOT KNOW YOURSELF
DID YOU LOSE YOUR MIND
DID YOU GO AND KILL

FANTASY OR ILLUSION
REALITY OR DREAM
GRAB YOUR HAIR IN YOUR HANDS
BREATHLESSLY START TO SCREAM

SOAKED IN BLOOD
NOT KNOWING WHO’S IT IS
IS IT YOURS OR THE MAN
THAT LAY BESIDE YOU
DEAD AT YOUR FEET

FEEL NO PAIN BUT NUMBNESS
CAN’T EVEN BREAK A SWEAT
SLOWLY BREAKING DOWN
SLOWLY START TO SHED

COULD IT BE THE PILLS
THAT YOU HAVE SO LONG ENDURED
COULD IT BE THE NEEDLES
THAT YOU’VE STUCK IN YOUR ARMS FOR YEARS
COULD IT BE THE POWDERS
THAT HAVE ROTTED YOUR NOSE CLEAN
OR COULD IT BE THE LIQUOR
RUNNING THROUGH YOUR BLOOD STREAM

YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START
YOU’VE BEEN DOING IT SO LONG
RUINED ALL THESE YEARS
ALWAYS DONE THINGS WRONG
YOU THOUGHT YOUR LIFE WAS SO DIVINE
YOU CHOSE YOUR COWBOY JUNKIE WAY OF LIFE
