Christmas Wishes

By Constantly Connie

Hopes are not Reality.
They're dreams; like Christmas wishes
Locked within breathlessly opened packages,
Full of magical morning hope.

But like the coveted gift,
That never materializes
We grow up...
Understanding
The disappointment and futility
Of believing in too much.
