Keep Breathing
By DarkNephilim
Taking that first step is always said to be
the hardest.
I’m not sure if I believe that.
Sure, it takes
courage to take a step into the unknown, but I think it’s much harder
to keep your feet going once you’ve started and can see what’s ahead
of you.
Not necessarily see all the things that
you have ahead but once you get that taste of just how bad things could
be if you keep going.
But you can’t stop because there is something
propelling you forward. Something magnetic that’s drawing you in, that
is telling you that, “Every bad thing that you have to go through to
get to me, is worth it.. Just keep fighting.”
I think that’s
harder than taking the first step.
Falling into the rhythm of footfalls,
that’s going to end up hurting and keep hurting for an uncertain amount
of time.
But there’s something to be said about the people that
take the second step, and the third, and so on.
They demonstrate
true courage, because after that first step…
They could be like
“well, to hell with that.. I’m gonna go pick another way.”
But
they take that sting with the first step… and take the blow of the second.
And they look up and say… “This isn’t going to beat me, I’m
stronger than this. Watch me beat this, because I’ll blow you away with
how I take this in stride.” Falling in love is a lot like that..
After you see someone and want to be with them, get to know them a little
bit at a time.
It’s all like taking steps.
Only sometimes
there are people who you can’t just get into by steps or stages. There
are people out there that just beg to be chased.. not intentionally but
just by being who they are.
And instead of walking and taking those
steps in a slow and steady pace it turns into you running the hundred yard
dash and falling off the cliff because they can fly and you can’t.
But, I think that once you take that risk and if the person is worth
the fall, then they help you fly along with them or at least give you something
soft to land on.

Incredible... I feel very much like the one running off the cliff after the birds, only to realize all too late I am not like them. I need to make those steps soon, In ways that I never thought I would, It is a struggle and who knows whats at the end of it, thats what is so repulsive about those later steps, the knowledge that in the end it could be worse, or it seems to be worse, when inside it feels like it has to be better. confusion abounds, loved the poem

...nice write. we pursue danger & dream of flying, but don't always plan ahead for a soft landing...
