Overflow

By Constantly Connie

 The sadness collects

The pail can never contain it all

It slowly trickles over the brim,

Forming larger and larger

Rivulets.

Streaming uncontrollably now

Over the sides and downward,

An endless spilling; gushing

Of unending emotion.

It began like a grey misty drizzle

Hopelessly dense,

Growing heedlessly

Spiteful of my concerns.

Big, heavy storm clouds

Emerged from the vast emptiness

Dark and angry; directionless

As to where to aim its wrath.

Swelling larger and larger

Until burst; it must.

No thunder, no lighting

No glorious theatrics.

Just

Fear, anger, regret and pain

Silently melding into the sadness,

Now gathering

Unrestrained.
