The Stale Rose

By Regnhild

 Born from a seed,
Bolstered with Gaia's nurturing,
This young and tender green
grew into a beautiful flower.

To play in Nature's garden,
under the Sun's kiss,
pure; as yet unmarred
to continue to thrive was my only wish.

Gaily the garden would play
with the Fae of the Vale,
The Breezes would sway
the guardian Bower that hid this Dell.

Rain would visit; leaving behind
cooling moisture, to refresh
Our verdant limbs that would open and find
giving our worries up to the rest

As I grew into the fullness of youth,
He entered one day
With a smile that was smooth
And talked in such a way

That any who heard; who listened
would gather around
And find they would be missing
A piece of themselves, taken away by his sounds.

Once he gathered, up my vines,
Binding my roots, building a wall,
Blocking out the wondrous sunshine
Ignoring my needs, my urgent call.

He left there, cold and alone,
Rain could not find me,
surrounded by a prison of grey weathered stone.
Forgotten by the garden and the bees.

Several years passed, amongst the stone.
I struggled, the vitality fading,
My petals losing their colors and tone.
The garden to me, no longer bade.

Then, when the future was only dark,
As the cold began to set in
In the distance flashed a spark
A hint of a generous grin.

This grin came to heal
Through the loving touch of you.
Rebirth through your zeal
to care for one that had been left abused.

You shattered the walls,
You freed the bonds.
You mended the flaws,
with your romantic songs.

Your hands caress the swollen bruises
Full of concern and tenderness
You let Sun back in
You showed Rain where I was.

The Fae once again with me began to play.
As you released my bound roots and vines,
Then Wind began to stay near, as you say
Those honey filled words upon which my heart began to dine.

The vibrancy returned, my strength filled,
through your support, your encompassing affections.
Time finally expressed and allowed me to see
my true soulmate, introduced through your devotions.

Thank you for being my Soul, my Sun,
my Moon, my Universe, my World.
Your endless love, still leaves me stunned.
You give me Wings allowing this Rose to soar.

Simply saying thank you does not express
the depth of emotion that overflows.
You are simply the best
of any and all that I know.
