Do I Look Okay?

By DavidVale

In the style of a romantic drama musical.

[Normal, calm]
Don't ask, if I'm okay
For I cannot tell you lies
Don't ask, why I am down
Or why inside, my heart dies

[Sad]
Look down, and see the lake before you
Mirroring pale eyes
And know that these tears will not fall from
Any other skies!

[Loudening, gaining strength]
Can't you feel what's all around you?
Can't you see the flowers bloom?!
Know you not that in this darker building
Lurks my darker gloom?!

[Loud, with angry passion, last word of the stanza forcefully]
Passion, life, embraces!
Lonelieness, deep sighs!
Cheerful get togethers with their
Not so cheerful fights!

[Pause, loud deep breaths, quieting]

[Whispering, sobs and pauses between words]
Comes dawn, a new tomorrow
Comes waking of the end
Sad realization than we never were
Nothing, but just friends

[Pause. Quiet sobs, trying to regain composure]

[Despair, quiet, speaking calmly, slowing at the end]
Don't ask, if I'm okay
It's apparent from my eyes
[Starting to kneel]
You can see, that hope for hope... Has…
Finally… Just. Died.

[On the floor, kneeling, head down]
