Forever Thief

The tears stained her face.
                          I lied incessantly.
                               The image I can't erase.
                                                    The thief is me.........



Her Christmas money.
                 I stole it without care.
                                Isn't it funny?
                                      How junkies impair?



The damage that lingers.
                     Ripples outspread.
                              Stolen with fingers,
                                       a habit fed.




The sorrow that lingered thick.
                   I am forever lost.
                              How could I be so sick?
                                                I shall pay the cost



Forever the lie, forever the thief.
                            How can I be redeemed?
                                             I was sorry, even though brief.
                                                                     You forgave me it seemed.


I pay the penance.
                      Everytime you look my way.
                                            A junkies dependence.
                                                         Makes virtues stray.


                                            I loved you with your tears rolling salty sweet.
                                             My heart ached to tell you it was me.
                                           How could I admit my souls defeat?
