Porcelain Mask

By Ashes the Emo Fae

I wish to be free of it
This confining contraption upon my face
This mask of lies to all who gaze upon it
Though the truth lays hidden just beneath
For I do not believe the world is quite ready to see it
See the true me

However
I no longer can take this pain
The restraints and binds on the mask
They grow tighter and tighter each day
Trying its best to stay
And hide away all emotions from ridicule
As it had done all these years to protect me

I wish not to be protected now
But to be free from this suffocating hobble
Let my emotions run free!
I care not of they see my tears
Let them, for I shed then whenever I wish
For I am human
Not some perfect little porcelain doll

Let me be free from this mask
I wish to be human once more
To wear my emotions proudly
The good and bad
Regardless of the views of others

So with that
I cast off this mask
Tossing it to the ground for it to shatter into dust
I will hide no longer
Let them see the true me now
In all of my flawed emotional glory
And if they don't like it....
Oh well, not my problem.
