Empty Without You

By pureevil8

The cold night air fills my lungs as sadness haunts my every breath.

The vast emptiness of this place is a constant reminder of the emptiness inside of me.

A reminder of how I cannot escape you even here.

I search so desperately for some comfort, for just a moment’s peace in my mind without you…

But of course there is none.

Without you I can only exist.

A ghostly shell wondering this plane of the living.

I try not to count the days until I am alive again but the days only turn to minutes,

The minutes to seconds,

The seconds to an eternity,

And I realize I truly am alone without you.

I am truly empty without you.

There is no life behind these eyes without you.

I left what piece of me that is human with you,

And there it shall remain until I can hold you once again.

I've definately been here before, though I'm not sure if you can ever be completely empty or completely full. I think the hunger just comes and goes with varying degrees in between. I think it's just part of being alive. I really like your poem.
