Defender

By Ocean of Truth

Your illiterate assumptions
And pretentious judgements
Seem to resound in my head
Beating
Like wardrums
Through this mist

This battle began
Out of nothing

No warning arrows
No thought of mercy
From your side

How did I provoke
This march
Of a thousand words
Clearly set against me

You know nothing of the life
That is led here and now
And your presumptions
Have brought you to
This onslaught
Where you can never win

For I am the defender,
The one man willing
To stand in defiance
To your lies and slander
That hammer at my defenses

These walls stand tall
For they were built
With steady hands
And tentative detail

And I shall wait
Vigilant and hopeful

For my one chance to undo
