Carving

By Silence

Feel the cold metal slice off the extra bit off skin
Surgical steel pulling and stretching the flesh
Sown together in something that seems monsterous

Take a hose and suck out all the undesired
Rending the fat and unsightly blemishes off

Chisel at the bones, hacking at them
Distorting nature to become a "natural beauty"

Carve me, scult me
Make me less and less human
So I can be perfect

A piece off art that only the strongest stomach can view

It brings into question the limits of body modification and also brings to mind medication and how everything is now a "disorder" and when we surgically alter or take a pill to change these things it leaves the question: Where does one draw the line? When does one cease to be human?
