The lonely polar bear
By Cindy-ydniC
In the chilling white
World engulfed,
The erased scenery
spreads to a distance unforeseen
It is heaven, on earth, too far
from heaven’s path
No clouds but snow
Not another soul- just
loneliness
Left to fend for himself
He stands in despair
Where is home, in this whitened obscurity?
Where is the hope
in this luminous well?
How can he be helped when washed by light
...and yet not saved?
The frost spread through bare
feet, like vines
Filtering into arteries, only to grab on tight to
his heart
It clutches hard to warmth
But nothing can calm the
tears
The heat of the meandering flow engraves itself on his face
Until sadness will be printed on his flesh like a stamp for the world
to see
And he closes his eyes
To enter the opposite
world
Somehow darkness is reassuring
It is safer, affectionate,
welcoming
Only the obscurity can hide the pain, the silence, and
abandonment
He stands alone, surrounded by a sea of white, of black,
and many more shades of loneliness

another jewel sparkling in the dark, well written.... the emotion expressed with depth of feeling, of understanding... such a plight, this poor bear lost in endless winter. thank you.

A very well written poem. I have also never read or heard of another poem written about a polar bear. The plight of this individual polar bear was incredibly palpable in your piece. Excellent stuff.
