fear of falling

By Perkele

You watched me walk a tightrope
With a grin on my face
A small sliver of fear
In my eyes

I made my way to the middle
Felt the bow go deep
Bravado seeping away
Replaced

Did you know of
The frayed ends
The slipping knots

Did you smile
When I toppled
End over end

Vertigo took hold
The laws of gravity
Your face
Filling my mind
The moment I hit
