Agony

It started as a pressure- then a slice
The soft, spidery 'shhh' of
the knife cutting through flesh.
I thought I was numb-no, WAIT! I
can FEEL that!
My mind is screaming, but all my mouth can muster is
a faint whimper.
I look into the light, painful and bright
'It
hurts, it hurts," I mumble through tears.
I feel an unfamiliar rush-is
it adrenaline?
It drags me down, trying to drown me-
I surface-it
drags me again.
I hear a startled, gurgling cry
And slip under
one-last-time...
