The Reminder

By Kittykat

I thought the sun was gone forever,
Left in the shade of grey,
Couldn't believe things can get better,
Never looking forward to a new day.

Being so lost and lonely,
Sadness consumed my soul,
I had forgotten my #1 fan,
And my lessons from Sunday school.

When you are young the world is so bright,
And dark places just don't exist,
But thinking back now there is only one,
Who can lead me out of darkness.

The things I have seen are so terrible,
Still there when I opened my eye's,
No matter how I tried to break free,
I was surrounded by depression and lies.

The devil is a tricky fellow,
He has demons that live inside you,
When he's at play in your marriage,
Your heart will be broken in two.

You won't even see it coming,
He makes temptation seem such a treat,
Makes you believe what you have,
Has become sour and no longer sweet.

So I handed my broken heart to God,
And told him I don't want to live,
All he did is shake his head and say,
"Child you have to forgive."

I know my chin must have hit the floor,
And I said "but he left me alone",
Then a soft voice whispered in my ear,
"Let those who have not sinned",
               Cast the first stone."
