I Should Have Said...

By Elf

I curse myself,
I made a mistake,
loosing what was most important,
If i had spoken up,
would he be here now?
I could have said something,
I could have at least said, "goodbye."

On that warm afternoon,
with the sun in my eyes,
I ran,
waving, crying,
but i was too late,
to even say "goodbye."

I always prided myself on having courage,
but when my voice catches in my throat,
how can i speak?
when will i see him again?
sooner is always better than later,
but you can never be sure,
so, the least you can say,
is "goodbye."
