Chapter 10 A Snow Angel Under the Frozen Heaven

By Henry Coldnight

"Behind you!"
She screamed and pointed, too little
too late.

Ogre-brute hammer
slammed hard
on his head,
and some stuff inside
soda-popped.

Stunned by the shocking pain,
he was unable to defend
against that
death-bringing spike
which pierced his heart
and all his effort
to keep on living,
throughly.

'How pathetic,'
he thought to himself,
'Is this it? Is this how
the story is going to end?'

[Death,
such cowardice,
shall not be...permitted, I won't let
such pathetic thing be...my fate!]

A true warrior
never dies,
everyone knows that.
He didn't say a thing,
but she saw it all in his eyes.

That Someone
gave him a mission
to complete.
Now he cannot carry it on,
but he will not let it fail.

Still gripping onto his weapon, his life,
for the last time,
his eyes glowed brightly
in the silent cold heaven,
enemies ran for their lives.

With the last bit of
his breath, wings of ice formed,
all around her, shielding her from all harms.

And then his sword
dropped
to the ground;
without its owner,
freezing everything all around,
as if attempting to stop
Time itself--
until someone comes to
carry on.
