Chapter 8 Angel of Madness

By Henry Coldnight

Darkness and
Insanity
had suddenly stopped playing
their favorite piece of
music,
and she was quite
surprised by it.

Headache
came after the
initial shock;
she bent down
grabbing her head
with both hands,
gaped for air as she
relaxed--

The desert wind
was lonesome and crude,
just as she,
tuning the unspoken
sadness deep down;
just like the wind,
she struggled to find
balance and peace--

She isolated herself
in this desert
in order to fight,
to be free.

"She is in trouble,"
her subconscious told her.

The Desert Wind
then brought to her
the mental cry of
dying souls
and the residue of
magic
in the air,
as if telling her...

"You don't belong here..."

She snorted once at
the desert wind
and then grinned
as she turned to walk--

Then the music
came back again
right as she took
the first step--

'You can't stop me,'
she narrowed her eyes
at her shadow and thought.

'Neither can you,'
the voices in her head taunted back.
