Ominous

By snakeskingrin

Dark winter depth bleak, pulse slowly declines
Lag beneath the day, barren spirit weak
With lackluster rays, the imposter sun pales
Without gentle warmth, to smooth out the day

How to face the cold, when no refuge is there?
Only strange angry faces, that make you feel old
Blind shadows distort, features and intentions
Willful child alone, chill heart last resort

Everything harder, losses starkly revealed
Winter lines the face, a pure icy martyr
Death and the lull, make time stand still
Caught and devoured, in a cold hopeless maw
