Chapter 1 A Fire in the Hole!

And up she climbs
with those golden gloves;
She has to reach
the opening
before it closes
and traps her in hell.

Lightning speed,
were the bony creatures
below her;
leaping left and right,
right and left,
on their claws, getting
closer and closer.

A great serpent
with skin of burning coal,
hissing and cursing,
spiraling flames with each hiss;
hurling coals with each curse.

Without a pause
she pulls out
some blade-feathers
from her blackened wing,
throwing them down
at her countless foes;
striking each at the center
of the skull.

Without looking back,
blocking the fire and boulders
with the undamaged wing;
there's no time to stop,
there's no time to feel pain.

And up she climbs...
