A New Day Dawns Part 2

By NotMyOwn_20

And so I raised up my voice in the crowd,
just me in a multitude,
and tell them the truth
(it starts happening)
the blind leave their guide
that they followed
for the truth I relay
the truth of the one that can set them free.

Few falter and fall back,
they run back to the blind
they had followed before,
and they fall to the floor
as the veil is replaced
they ignore their disgrace
and continue on
to the comforting silence of their graves...
and it brings tears to my eyes
to see them tossed about by their lies,
by their pain, thowing cries
to the air all around
not willing to give up their ways.

And I ask why this is,
so lost and forlorn,
they seek for that comfort
while crawling on coals
they seek for that freedom
while chaining their souls
they seek for that living that is worth their life.

I dug everything up until that last line, which I just couldn't grasp. It doesn't, and forgive me for saying this, make sense. Also *that they followed* is a little harsh. Perhaps that *they've followed* or *they had followed* anyway, that's my criticism. I almost loved this, but it feels unfinished in a way, and fell short. Either way, write on.
