Dark City
By Ozymandias
Shadows creep clandestinely along dilapidated
and abandoned buildings.
They bounce from wall to wall,
And then swiftly disappear into nothing.
Children’s laughter echoes faintly;
So very subtle, but not unheard.
Blood red lightning sweeps across
A dark and cloudless sky.
An electric splatter painting on an infinite canvas.
Thunder gently rumbles in the distance.
Always seeming as if it will soon be close,
But never arriving.
Rain drizzles down,
Making soft pattering sounds.
And I,
Happily jump over the little puddles,
Under the intermittent light and shade.
As I walk down the endless streets,
Of this ever dark and frightening city,
That I have fabricated
In my head.
