Limited Quarters

By Fourknaz

Steam bath dorm rooms echo horns and intoxicated banter
Two minutes after half-past the fourth hour
And once again, you slipped through my fingers
Like grains of sand
But perhaps I never had
You're a fucking tease
A mind player who graduated from the beginner level to expert
Sorry, I don't have enough quarters to keep feeding you
I can only hit continue so many times
You've made my cuticles bleed
My stomach flees at a mindless speed
My eyes fight tears of heartache
And you still have my damn T-shirt
Which you dyed blue thank-you-very-much
I don't want it back
I would want you, but I'm not making the cut
Nope, I've peaked with you
My climbing rope has snapped
And now I'm stuck
Stuck in this stage, where all the quarters
In the world
Can't bring me to the next level
