Making It Through The Door

By SinisterSinner

The light is reaching for my feet,
Obviously my shades are not doing their job,
I decide to move to a darker corner in this small shack I call home,
But still I fail to hide,
The sun is coming up,
This room is starting to vividly show all the dust speckles in the air that I’ve failed to clean up for years,
My surroundings seem like a dense forest that I cannot escape,
I’m staring at what seems like a hallway,
But it slowly transforms into a ballroom through my eyes,
Still no matter how well I dance,
I cannot reach the closet door,
It seems so far,
Rapidly I hit the floor exhausted,
Still trying to pull myself forward,
I fail to get anywhere,
No matter how much I claw or reach,
It avails me nothing,
It’s easy to reach out and turn the handle of any door,
The problem is do we have what it takes to get to the door,
To walk through it,
Does it lead to another room filled with light?
Or will it be dark and damp?
Everything we do in this life is based on chance.

I'm sure you have some sentimental value in this piece and you put a lot of effort dedication into its message, but I'm gonna take it at face value. Forget the metaphor- This is about how hard it is to get up in the morning! I love it! XD
