The rules of the contest are as follows:
First choose your favorite published poet
(Seeing as we are looking for lesser known poets we ask that you do not choose any of the following Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, William Shakespeare.)
And then you can either...
Choose your favorite poem by your chosen author and rewrite it in your own words and style.
The rules specific to this method are
You must provide a link to the poem
You must title the entry after your chosen poet and the method chosen which is, rewritten.

Or
You can write the essence of your chosen poet in an original poem. Write you own original poem, and to the best of your ability mimic their style and form. Rules specific to this method are:

The contest will be judged on a scale of 1-10 on various aspects of the written poem by a panel of impartial judges, some are harsher judges while some are more lenient. The subjects to be judged are
Overall presentation
Originality
Imagery
Vocabulary
Rhythm
Don't be intimidated by the method which has been chosen to judge the contest, it actually makes it more fair.
Just follow these simple rules but reach beyond your boundaries and adopt another poets style, or their thoughts, there are an infinite amount of possibilities, and as long as you follow our guideline you are free to make of your entry whatever you wish...introduce us to your favorite poet by walking a mile in their shoes.
